Birds in Unusual Places

This week has been amazing and it is only Tuesday! On the left is a Roseate Spoonbill and on the right is a male peacock, of course. As my husband and I were driving down the main street to our neighborhood, I casually looked over into a large drainage ditch. "Stop" I yelled to my husband, there are flamingo's down in the ditch and I got to take a picture. He pulled into the neighborhood and I charged out of the car and went down into the ditch. Would you believe I had the wrong lens on the camera but I was so afraid that if I ran back to the car to get the telephoto the two "flamingos" would fly off. I knew that weren't flamingos but I didn't have the right term for the bird. Knew I would have to look it up to see what the bird really was.

Got a parking ticket about a month ago at the high school. Didn't realize I didn't park in the right area. Never had a "parking" problem before in the four years she has been going to the school. Cost me 125 dollars for the 5 minutes that I was there. Anyway, after going to the courthouse to pay the fine, my husband and I stopped at a near by restaurant. We ate outdoors on the back patio. Nice breeze, nice temperature. Saw the peacock over by another building on the property.

Right friendly guy. Guess he is use to handouts from the restaurant guests. Decided to have lunch with us. Although I have seen peacocks before, in the ususual places I have never met one up close and personal like. He is a pretty big boy and the tail was....long to say the least.I took a little over a dozen shots and my husband took some video of the peacock walking over to our table. The restaurant was next to a field that had a small area for horses, a donkey, and two goats. Flies were abundant, needless to say. Good old fashioned burgers were a delight.
