A new year, a new post, resolutions not to drop

This is my first post for the new 2011 year. I have been pondering changes to this blog and the reasons for the changes. I would like to increase the traffic. I would like the blog to be more meaningful, more insightful and have useful information for people.

Resolutions: according to the dictionary.com site, a resolution is a mental resolve. Nearly all resolutions are for the betterment of ourself. Are we not mentally strong enough to keep these resolves?  Why do we not keep them. Perhaps we make the wrong type of resolution? Perhaps we just need to change the focus of the resolution to one that is more attainable. I got this idea from another website: ronisweigh.com
I think she hit the right button proposing making a more reasonable and very attainable resolutions. She proposes not to make the resolution to lose so many pounds by some date. Roni says to "forget perfect" but commit to making "small changes".

So my first resolution will be to continue going to Weight Watcher meetings each week.

Next Roni talks about being accountable. Find a tribe, a group of like minded people with same goals who would encourage you. I have a small tribe. Two friends who pay for the meetings. That gives me a total of three best friends. I am so blessed to have friends that really care about me, my health.

That being said, my second resolution will be to grow my tribe through my blog. I will include my favorite Weight Watchers meals, website etc. But that is not to say that my blog is becoming only a WW blog. I am just sharing the things that are important to me.

In closing, I find that I have made two new year resolutions that are attainable. I have more to do for I want more than two. Taking small steps, one small step at a time.

Why it's been awhile since last post - I have a reason or two or three

I make no excuses, wait, yes I do. I have been busy. Sooo. I have been working on learning how to write conversations, how to make this blog better and freelance writing. I also volunteer down at the local elementary school during kindergarten lunches. I eat, I sleep and the cycle starts all over again. Somehow I manage to sneak in some photography and television. The above link will direct you to some photos I took at a recent concert. ARTreach organization
(http://www.artreachcoterie.org/pages/home.asp) provides arts activities to the under served, young and old. The concert was a fund raiser for the Texas Music Project.
(http://www.texasmusicproject.org/)  Budget cuts in many of Texas school districts are forcing those programs out of the system. Many of these programs will never return. Jon Christopher Davis and the Lone Star Attitude band performed not only Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings hits, but their own brand of country music.  (http://www.jonchristopherdavis.com/)

Back to blogging

I think my head has now stopped spinning. I have not blog in a long while. Too much going on and yet not the right things have been going on. I could have been blogging but it would have been so negative that the blog site would have caught fire.

To make a really really long story short, my daughter has been in a custody battle. I thought it would be a hand down in her favor type of thing. But no so. Apparently her mental status as a bipolar person outweighs his criminal background that goes back to his teens. So she is allowed to see the little fellow 1st, 3rd and 5th weekends of the month. The catch is that the little man has to be in our custody.

I have been taking loads of pictures of the little man. Taking him to the playground. Also my husband and I did two road trips to see the bluebonnets and other wildflowers. Absolutely the best flowers in a couple of years. Guess all the spring rain we got helped.

I have been writing and rewriting and writing. I have now finished the prologue and chapter 1. I can finally put them to rest. I have done some research, wrote parts of next sections and read.

I finished my caregiver job. Their son came home from state jail. I find his skin on his arms looks like melted wax with holes in it. He has spent 3/4ths of his adult life addicted to cocaine and heroin. I did not know that stabbing yourself so many times to inject drugs would do that to your skin. Weird. Well, they wanted their son (who can blame them) to take care of them so I left. I hope he can stay clean but the odds are against him but I also hope that he is able mentally to take care of them.

Lots to say, nothing to say

During the day I think of a lot of things I want to blog about. Yet, when I sit down to write my blog, the old brain just stops in its tracks and I can not think of a thing to blog about.

Had the grandson today. He is still not eating much after a week and a half of being sick. He has lost down to 19 pounds. Dr. put him on pedisure twice a day and propel water for the rest of the day. I did get some pudding down him. Not the whole container but about 3/4 of it. He ate some cheetos made for babies and they are made from veg's. Pretty good. I kinda sorta ate a few. He likes to share or rather cram some of them down your throat.
